Freshman Admission Essays
Freshman Admission Essays Some schools hope that by eliminating the application essay they can make the application process easier and attract a wider variety of applicants. They hope that by presenting their application process as an easier alternative to more intensive applications, more students will apply to their institution. Specific admissions cutoffs and criteria. Some schools, particularly public schools, admit students based on a specific selection index, which is based on a combination of GPA, test scores, and/or class rank. If applicants meet the minimum index score cutoff, they are automatically admitted. The reason that teachers donât assign a number of pages anymore is because itâs too easy to manipulate pages. When students used to write on typewriters, it was common for teachers to assign essays in number of pages. It should capture your genuine personality, explaining who you are beyond a series of grades, test scores, and after-school activities. But thatâs not nearly as scary as it seems, because you get to choose what to share and how to share it. What you write in your application essay or personal statement should not contradict any other part of your applicationâ"nor should it repeat it. This isn't the place to list your awards or discuss your grades or test scores.
